Overview
Roofing Score (“Roofing Score”, “we”, “us”) operates this website, an independent directory and ranking of roofing companies in Canada. These terms apply to everyone who uses the site: homeowners, visitors and company representatives. By using the site you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
You must be at least 18 years old, and able to enter a binding agreement, to submit a review, request or application. We may change these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and using the site after a change means you accept it.
Use of the site
You may use the site to search and compare roofing companies, read their profiles, request quotes, write reviews, and apply to be listed. You may share links to the site. You may not copy, scrape or resell our rankings, scores or content in bulk without our written permission.
Rankings, Trust Scores and provisional scores
Each company receives a Trust Score from 0 to 100. It is a weighted average of the checks described on the How we score page. Please note:
- Many scores are marked Provisional. They are based only on information a company publishes on its own website. We have not yet checked licences, insurance, warranty documents or review platforms. A check we could not assess is scored a neutral 50.
- A score is our editorial assessment of the information available to us. It is not a guarantee, an endorsement, a certification or a statement about the quality of any work.
- Information can be incomplete, outdated or wrong. If you are a company and something is incorrect, send us the correct information and supporting documents and we will review the score.
Featured placements and fees
A basic profile on Roofing Score is free. We may offer paid plans and paid featured placements, such as Company of the Month. A featured placement is marked Reliable partner, is explained on the How we score page as a paid placement, and sits outside the numbered ranking. Payment never changes a company’s Trust Score, its scores on any check or its numbered rank. The price and terms of any paid plan will be shown before you buy it.
The site is only a venue
Roofing Score is an information service. We are not a roofing contractor, we do not employ or supervise the companies listed, and we are not a party to any agreement between you and a company. You are responsible for choosing a company and for your dealings with it. Before you sign a contract, check the company yourself: ask for proof of licence and insurance, a written itemised estimate and written warranty terms.
Reviews and other content you submit
- A review must be honest, based on your own experience, and written by someone who does not own or work for the company.
- We check reviews before publishing and may edit for length or remove, reject or unpublish any review at our discretion, for example if it breaks the code of conduct below.
- Reviews do not change a company’s Trust Score.
- You keep the rights to what you write. You give us a free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to publish, display, adapt and keep it on the site. You confirm that you have the right to give this licence and that your content does not break any law or anyone’s rights.
Company information and logos
Company profiles are built from information the companies publish and, in time, from documents they send us. Business names, logos and trademarks belong to their owners and are shown only to identify the company. They do not mean that the owner endorses Roofing Score. If you own a logo or other material shown on the site and want it corrected or removed, contact us and we will act promptly.
Making claims of copyright infringement
If you believe material on the site infringes your copyright, send us a notice with: your name and contact details; a description of the work you say is infringed; the web address where the material appears on our site; a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised; and a statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.
Code of conduct
You agree to use the site lawfully and not to:
- post false, misleading, defamatory, hateful, harassing or illegal content;
- post a fake review, or a review in exchange for payment or in return for a benefit, or about your own or a competitor’s business;
- impersonate a person or company, or claim to represent a company you do not represent;
- share other people’s personal information without permission;
- upload viruses, interfere with the site, or try to gain unauthorised access to it or to its data;
- use automated tools to collect data from the site, or to send spam through it.
Monitoring of information
We are not obliged to monitor the site, but we may review, edit or remove content, and suspend access to the site, at any time and without notice if we think it necessary. You remain responsible for everything you submit.
External links
The site links to websites run by others, such as company websites and Google. We do not control these sites and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement.
Communication
We may email you about the application, review or request you sent us. We send marketing email only with your consent, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We may use anonymous, combined usage information to improve and promote the site.
Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability
The site and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that rankings, scores or other information are complete, accurate or current.
To the extent the law allows, Roofing Score and its owners, contractors and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, or for loss of profit, income, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or from your dealings with any company found through it. Our total liability to you for any claim related to the site will not exceed CAD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Indemnity
You agree to defend and compensate Roofing Score, and its owners and contractors, for any claim, loss or cost (including reasonable legal fees) that results from your breach of these terms, from content you submit, or from your misuse of the site.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them.
